Question: What marketing moves are you going to make this year to grow your business? Digital ads? Social media campaigns? Email blasts? Let me cut through the noise and show you three marketing strategies that our most successful clients are using to drive growth.

Customer Surveys

The value of customer surveys cannot be overstated. Here are proven techniques to help you get the most out of your surveys.

Keep it Short

The best surveys are short surveys. Trust me—you will get way more responses and the opportunity to engage clients in deeper discussions if you respect their time and keep it short. In fact, using one question (NPS) is often more than enough to cultivate actionable data.

Analyze the Results

Ask questions that will make it easy to analyze the results and make decisions. Dropdown and Likert scale questions are excellent options. If you must ask open-ended questions, use a tool to generate word clouds using respondent answers.

Dropdown

Dropdown is a closed-ended question that allows respondents to choose one answer choice from a list of choices presented in a dropdown menu.

Likert Scale

Likert scales are a type of rating scale used to measure attitudes, agreement, importance, or likelihood. They assume attitudes are evenly spaced along the rating scale.

Open-Ended

Open-ended questions are questions that cannot be answered with a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’, and instead require the respondent to elaborate on their points.

Drill Down

Anyone who completes the survey is a candidate for a follow-up call or email. Thank them for their help and ask them follow-up questions so that you precisely identify areas in need of improvement. And for those customers who love you – ask them for a testimonial or positive Google review.

And while we’re on the topic of surveys…

Certainly! Below is a survey question designed to gather insights from readers about the use of surveys as a tool for business growth, which you can include in your blog post about marketing best practices:

How frequently do you use surveys to understand your target audience's needs and preferences?

Helpful Content

Earn your future customer’s trust by giving them the answers they are searching for. Blog posts, infographics, case studies and tutorials are great ways to attract and engage people in need of your products or services. Here are two benefits of a great content strategy.

Improved SERP Ranking

Your customers have questions and look to Google to provide answers. Create blog posts that answer those questions and there is a good chance your website will end up at the top of the result pages for those search queries.

Conversions

Once a web visitor makes it to your site, give them a reason to leave their name, email and phone number. How? With gated content. Create cool downloadable guides, graphics or charts and make them available after a visitor provides information via a form. This is a great way to generate leads for your sales team and expand your list of contacts for email blasts.

Video

Video is king of all marketing content. Don’t believe me? Chew on these statistics:

So, what are you waiting for? Create some relatable, authentic video content, put it on your YouTube channel and share it on your website and social media accounts. It’s how top marketers get more social followers, web visitors and conversions.
