Hello! My name is Matt Pelletier and I was born and raised in Mishawaka. I graduated from Mishawaka High School in 2023, where my love for socializing, creativity, and sports grew. Entering my junior year at Purdue, I am pursuing a degree in marketing with a minor in creative writing.
I have recently joined the Sharp Wilkinson team to leverage my experiences and knowledge gained at Purdue, combining it with the creative minds at Sharp Wilkinson.
Why I Chose Sharp Wilkinson
As the marketing industry changes and evolves, I realized that nothing is more crucial to future success than experience. Seeking a local internship to balance my family commitments led me to explore opportunities at Sharp Wilkinson.
Although at first it seemed scary to dive in and join a real agency, Sharp Wilkinson has made this process smoother than I ever could have imagined. From the first interviews with Chris and Jack, to every meeting I have had with the team, I knew that this was a tight-knit group that could help me grow. I continue to see the teamwork and creativity on display every day which aligns with my values.
Expectations and Excitement
As I begin my first internship, I have established several goals for myself and identified specific knowledge that I aim to gain from this experience.
Some of those include growing as both a marketer and person, understanding the rapid changes of the industry, and becoming more familiar with Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Initially, I believed that the best-case scenario of this experience was to come in, achieve all my goals, then impress everyone with my work.
However, after just one meeting with Jack, my mindset shifted towards having fun while being open to failure and learning from mistakes to gain the knowledge I seek. Every member of the team has made it clear that they are ready to assist me whenever needed. The enjoyable and creative work environment has made me excited to come to work every day.
Dream Career and Future Aspirations
My passion for sports from a young age has always made it a dream of mine to work for a professional sports team. When I chose marketing as my major, I wondered how I could make that dream a reality. As social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook became more and more utilized by professional sports teams, I saw an opportunity.
I thought to myself I could contribute creative posts and found myself drawn to the idea of pursuing a role in digital media for a sports team. This position would allow me to blend my team experience, passion for marketing, and love for sports into one role.
I am confident that Sharp Wilkinson will improve my coachability, encourage my creative thinking, and provide the opportunity to explore digital media. This would be putting me on the path for success and steering me towards my dream career.
I am sincerely grateful to Sharp Wilkinson for providing me with this opportunity for personal and professional growth. While the specific ways in which I will grow are yet to be seen, I come into this experience with an open mind. The support and acceptance I have received from every team member here has not gone unappreciated, and I am confident this experience will prepare me to succeed in any future endeavors.
